HS Design Insight : Australian-Made Products

This year we're making a conscious effort to support and showcase Australian-made products and designers throughout our projects to make the entire process more sustainable which also helps to create a higher-quality design in the end. We love to support our local businesses and feel that the products created are incredibly relevant to our natural surroundings and environment. We're kicking this whole movement off with our Potts Point Project where we will be featuring only Australian-made products. We can't wait for you all to see the project when it's finished, but for now, here are some of our favourite local furniture and lighting products that we're featuring in the bedroom and wardrobe of our Potts Point Project. Each piece is handmade and designed in Australia by local designers and manufacturers - all collectibles that the clients will have forever.

  1. The Slim Pendant by Articolo Lighting: Inspired by the sophisticated high life depicted in Slim Aaron’s famed Palm Springs photography, ‘Slim’ reinterprets mid-century Californian modernism in architectural form and refined simplicity. The arresting restraint of Slim evokes effortless glamour. Its light source is housed within an elongated arch of mouth blown glass and framed in hand finished metalwork by local artisan’s. We also used Articolo throughout The Woolwich House project, view the project here.

  2. Coast Wave Bed by Daniel Boddam: Designed as soft rolling waves that relax you into sleep. With low slung proportions, the bed is both comfortable and contemporary.

  3. Canopy in Pewter by Quercus & Co: CANOPY is drawn with charcoal, ink and watercolour, the birds wash into the paper, while the stylised leaves flutter in the breeze. We also used an Australian-made wallpaper in The Clovelly House bathroom.

  4. Arch Chair by Douglas & Bec: Reminiscent of classic Parisian brasserie chairs by Thonet, the Arch Chair is a comfortable, elegant occasional seat in flaxen tones of steambent American Ash, velvet and rattan.

  5. Turn Stool by Douglas & Bec: Clean-lined and minimal, this luxurious vanity stool or ottoman is deeply padded and covered in soft velvet.
